Broomball

Creator: Michael King

The Broomball plugin allows users to play the mini-game of Broomball. Players aim to score points by shooting balls through hoops, with the team earning the most points winning the match. It is designed for both officially sanctioned competitive “House” seasons and casual practice play.

Broomball uses three balls: the Quigby (scored through hoops by Dashers), the Birdie (caught by Hunters to end the game), and Brambles (thrown by Bashers to disrupt opponents).

Note: All broom levels and stat perks are automatically disabled during Broomball matches to ensure fair competition.

To participate in a match, players must interact with the [Broomball] sign located at the pitch.

  1. Select Game Type: Choose between a practice session or an official league match.
  2. Select Position: Click the icon for the role you wish to play.
  3. Positioning: Once the game starts, follow the particle trails to fly to your starting position.
  4. The Game: The match begins once all players are in place. The game only ends when a Hunter catches the Birdie.

A full team consists of 7 players: 3 Dashers, 2 Bashers, 1 Warden, and 1 Hunter. Official matches require a minimum of 5 players (2 Dashers, 1 Basher, 1 Warden, and 1 Hunter).

The Broomball season consists of 6 games where each team plays every other team once.

  • Winning: The team with the most wins at the end of the season is the champion.
  • Tie-Breakers: Ties in the standings are broken based on Point Difference.
  • Substitutes: Teams may use a substitute from a different house if both team captains agree.
  • Forfeits: If a team cannot field the minimum 5-player lineup, they must forfeit.
    • Penalty: The opposing team is awarded a win with a 250 point difference (+250 for the winners, -250 for the losers).

Broomball teams are comprised of members from each individual house.

Each house team is divided into two distinct groups to ensure depth and participation:

  • First String: The primary starting roster consisting of 7 players.
  • Second String: The secondary roster consisting of 7 players.
  • Competition: Both strings are eligible to compete in matches. Players from the Second String may be subbed into the First String as needed to fill vacancies or adjust strategy.

Each house elects one Team Captain who holds the following responsibilities:

  • Managing the team roster and selecting the starting lineup.
  • Appointing a Co-Captain.
  • Scheduling team practices.
  • Requirement: Captains must play at least one match during the season to remain eligible.

Votes for new captains are held between seasons. A Head of House (regardless of which house they lead) must be present to officiate the election process.
