Staff Roles

New

Staff are considered representatives of the server’s rules and community. They are the backbone of the server’s day-to-day functions and keep the server a fun, safe, exciting and inclusive space!

The Ministry

Owner

The founder and supreme ruler of the server /j. This is Pande, also known as our one and only Pandette Bell. You may not apply for this role.

Co-Owner

The glue that holds the server together. Co-Owners are the highest rank of staff and responsible for keeping the server functioning. If something needs to get done, they are the first to do it or learn how to do it. They are the most trusted of the staff, and tasked with leading teams, handling sensitive information and situations that require deescalation. Co-Owners frequently occupy positions as Team Leaders, HP Staff Heads, and Head of House. You may not apply for this role, as it is promotion only.

Admin

Trusted staff who have gone above and beyond in another role and have proven to be trustworthy. Admins are tasked with enforcing the rules, conducting build checks, and helping make some important decisions with Owners. Their primary function is the enforcement of the server’s code of conduct and setting an example for both the general community and staff. Admins are capable of becoming Team Leaders, HP Staff Heads, and sometimes Head of House if necessary. You may not apply for this role, as it is promotion only.

Moderator

Familiar faces of the community who are tasked with moderating chat and making sure everyone is being respectful. They are capable of warning players and enforcing the rules if necessary, including by helping Admins when needed. You must apply for this role.

Helper

Friendly faces on the server tasked with guiding new players, answering general questions, and helping keep an eye out for rulebreakers. They do not have any moderating permissions, but can be effective at maintaining an inclusive, kind and respectful atmosphere here on KnockturnMC! You must apply for this role.

Technical Department

System Developer

The secret Owners. System Developers are essentially Co-Owners with a non-social role that are equally trustworthy. They are not expected to enforce rules or represent the social side of the server. The primary responsibility of a System Dev is to make major backend decisions for the server, manage code bases, and decide on what features will be implemented and how. They collectively provide oversight for the Developers and manage them. You may not apply for this role, as it is promotion only.

Developer

Former Dev Trainees who have proven their programming abilities and earned some trust. Developers work on existing plugins and new features for the server under the careful oversight of the System Developers. They are tasked with coding on projects and fixing bugs. You may not apply for this role, as it is promotion only.

Dev Trainee

Not officially staff, but people in training to become staff as a Developer. You must apply for this role, and your acceptance into a traineeship will be determined by System Developers. Experience in Java is preferred.

Creative Department

Builder

The architects of Knockturn’s open world. From portions of the castle, to the whole of London, Wiltshire, Little Hangleton, York, and of course our magical Ministry, Wixing Way & Knockturn Alley, the builders have done it all! They’re responsible for beautifying the world, updating older builds, and occasionally helping the Event Team with their plans. You must apply for this role and pass a build test.

Professor

The roleplay faculty of Knockturn Academy. Professors teach classes at least once a month, remove points for student misbehavior, give points in classes, grade homework, and generally look scary. You must apply for this role and be at least Year 3 in-game.

Professor Assistant

The right hand wix of Knockturn Academy’s Professors. They assist professors during classes and grade homework. They are not capable of teaching. You must apply for this role.

Lore Team

The content department of KTN. These creative thinkers write our lessons, homeworks, quests, and come up with the plot and general lore of the Wixing World. They are excellent writers and educated in how to use JSON. You must apply for this role.

Texture Artist

Another one of KTN’s creative thinkers. Texture artists are tasked with creating models and textures for blocks, mobs, fashion items. They also tend to have cool sunglasses. You must apply for this role with experience.

Socials Team

These folks handle our social media. They make videos for KnockturnMC’s Youtube, Instagram, Tiktok, Twitter and more! They’re generally capable in Blender, Canva and or video editing platforms. Their tasks include occasionally forcing the community to participate in funny memes for fun. You must apply for this role. Experience in making PR content is preferred.

Event Team

In charge of managing event, but not the sole people who run them, Event Planners make sure our server’s events run smoothly. Whether that be coordinating with the Lore Team for event quests, enlisting the help of Builder for an event structure, or roping other staff into hosting minigames. They make decisions about topics and themes for events. You must apply for this role.

Additional Staff Roles

HP Staff Head

In charge of staff firings, activity checks, and coordination in absence of Owner. Tasked with general administrative work such as keeping track of MIAs, hiatuses, staff warnings and restrictions, etc. You may not apply for this role, as it is promotion only.

Team Leader

Makes decisions for their team with oversight of Owners, coordinates meetings with team members, incentivizes activity, and delegates tasks. You may not apply for this role, as it is promotion only.
